Showing Up for Ourselves with “Ya Fav Trashman” Terrill Haiglar

“You can either pay for past decisions or get paid for past decisions.”

We all have defining moments throughout our lives that change the trajectory of our journey.

Sometimes, we might not realize we're in one of those defining moments until later, kind of like how you can't really see the full image of a jigsaw puzzle until the final pieces are in place.

But sometimes, we'll hear something, see something, or experience something and simply know, intrinsically, that THIS is one of those magical defining moments.

For Terrill Haigler aka Ya Fav Trashman, one such moment came from the wisdom of his grandmother prior to her passing. Her words became the ethos that has guided his vision as he endeavors to uplift his community, inspire tangible change, and pave the way for a better future, for everyone.

If you aren't familiar with Terrill's incredible journey from modern dancer to Philadelphia sanitation worker to grassroots community leader, go check out this uplifting episode on the Flourish or Fold podcast and prepare to be insanely inspired ⇣

About “Ya Fav Trashman” Terrill Haiglar

Less than three months after accepting the position as a laborer for the Philadelphia sanitation department, Terrill Haigler became an essential worker. To bridge the gap between residents and sanitation workers, he created the Instagram page @_yafavtrashman to give residents an inside look at what sanitation workers experienced during the pandemic. When Terrill noticed that his co-workers didn’t have the proper PPE to execute their jobs safely, he decided to stand in the gap and start a Custom Ink t-shirt fundraiser to purchase PPE, hand sanitizer, and cleaning supplies. Catapulting him as Philly’s latest virtual sensation.
